Specialist Mail Order Fruit Tree Nursery

10 Frequently Asked Questions

Can I come and choose a tree from the nursery?
Unfortunately not, we are primarily a mail order nursery and all of our trees are lifted to order. If you place an order you can have it delivered or collect it from the nursery.

Are you open to the public?
If you would like to collect an order you are more than welcome to do this by appointment. However we are not open to the public and do not have many facilities such as car parking and two wheel drive access at the nursery.

Why can I not buy online?
It may be possible in the future to buy trees from our website but as we have over 50 apple cultivars for sale on a choice of three different rootstocks and as one or two year trees it would be difficult for us to list everything and for the online sales to run smoothly. We also value the opportunity to talk to our customers and to ensure that they get the trees most suited to their site/situation.

Why are your trees cheaper than other nurseries?
A lot of nurseries do not grow their own apple trees but buy them in from a wholesaler, our trees are competetively priced as we are growing them ourselves and as a family run nursery have quite low overheads. There is also an economy of scale as we grow over 5,000 trees per year.

Do you give discounts for large orders?
We are able to give discounts for large orders, we would consider an order over 50 one year maidens to be a large order and we would do our best to give you the best price we can.

Do you sell trees in pots?
With the exception of a few fruit trees all of our trees are sold bare root between November and April. These are the best months in which to plant trees and bare root trees are an economical and environmentally friendly option. It is worth bearing in mind that a field grown tree will normally be larger than one that is pot grown.
